TRUTH OR FICTION - TALE OF JOSEPH HARRY MEETING QUEEN VICTORIA AND PRINCE ALBERT
On 6th September 1844, at St Michael's Mount, Cornwall where Joseph Harry 24yrs was ‘sparking’ with a young lady near the cliffs, they spotted Queen Victoria's majestic yacht Fairy, anchored nearby.[1] [2] The sight of an extraordinary engine house perched on the cliffs fascinated Joseph, as it seemed to defy gravity.

Without hesitation, Joseph dashed down the cliff, frantically waving his hat. His timely warning redirected the boat, preventing a disastrous collision. He then stood amidst the waterway, guiding
them to safety.
He later saw the young Queen by herself on her yacht,
observing her party's adventures on land.
The Prince Consort went off to visit a nearby mine, he was presented with copper specimens, that Joseph kindly offered to carry, back to the Queen's yacht earning the Prince's gratitude with a sovereign pressed into his palm.[3]
This ‘royal’ encounter left an indelible mark on Joseph's memory, fate played its hand once more when he married Jane who was with him on that day.[4] [5]
Years later when Queen Victoria's Journals were made public, there was a sketch of a Cornish
miner who bares an uncanny resemblance to Joseph Harry. Go check HERE and scroll down to the illustration dated 8th September 1846.
Until next time…thanks for reading!
